It is a small administrative fact that shows up constantly in the way local firms are listed online, where a Whyteleafe address gets filed under Croydon by a directory and then never matches the searches people actually type.

What changes on 1 April 2026

Tandridge sets out the changes to business rates taking effect from 1 April 2026. Retail, hospitality and leisure relief ends on 31 March 2026, and is replaced by lower multipliers for qualifying retail, hospitality and leisure properties: 38.2p below £51,000 of rateable value and 43.0p from £51,000 to £499,999, against 43.2p and 48.0p for everything else in those bands, with a 50.8p rate on properties at £500,000 and above. A revaluation takes effect the same day, using market values as at 1 April 2024.

Alongside that: transitional relief adds a 1p supplement to the relevant tax rate for one year from 1 April 2026, the supporting small business scheme caps increases at the higher of £800, small business rates relief on a first property is now kept for three years, and electric vehicle charge points get a ten-year 100% relief. Why there is no Whyteleafe figure on this page

My audit of small business websites covered 32 towns and reported town-level figures only where at least 30 businesses were measured. Whyteleafe did not reach 30, so it has no row, and I am not going to manufacture one out of a handful of sites. What I can tell you is what held true across all 3,031 live homepages in the sample: 30.3% had no structured data, 23.7% had no meta description and 14.2% carried a footer year three or more years old.
