Practical AI for your business, implemented properly.
Jones Digital is an independent AI consultant and implementation studio for small businesses, based in Croydon and working across the UK. Not a chatbot bolted onto your homepage: the enquiry handling, paperwork and repetitive admin that eat your week, automated with AI where it genuinely helps, checked by a person, and measured against the hours it saves.
- AI implementation means picking the two or three jobs in your business that repeat every day and building software, with an AI model inside it, that does them. Enquiry replies, paperwork and staff questions are the usual winners.
- It starts with a £125 advice session or a £400 half-day audit. Builds are fixed-quoted afterwards; smaller automations from from £750.
- Everything is built with a human check in the loop and UK GDPR in mind, on infrastructure that can be supported after launch.
Six jobs AI does well in a small business.
Real, boring, valuable. Each one is built as proper software around a language model, wired into the tools you already use, and handed over with a plain-English note on what it does.
-
01
Enquiry triage and drafting
Every email, form and WhatsApp enquiry read, sorted and answered with a draft in your voice, ready for a human to check and send. The 9pm quote request gets a proper reply by 9.05.
-
02
An assistant trained on your own documents
Your price lists, policies, manuals and past jobs, made answerable. Staff ask a question and get the answer with the source, instead of hunting through folders or asking you.
-
03
Data out of paperwork
Invoices, delivery notes, forms and PDFs turned into clean rows in the system you already use. The typing-in job that nobody wants, done in seconds and checked by a person.
-
04
AI inside your website and tools
A chat assistant that answers customer questions from your real content, a quote estimator, smart search, or an LLM feature built into the app you already run. Designed, hosted and maintained as one piece of software, not a widget bolted on.
-
05
AI workflows and automation
Reports written from your data on a schedule, reviews replied to, listings kept current, records reconciled. Where a plain script will do, you get a plain script; the AI goes only where judgement is needed.
-
06
Being found by AI search
ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI answers now recommend businesses. Structured data, plain-English answers and machine-readable summaries so those systems can find, understand and cite yours.
First, work out what is worth doing.
Most businesses do not need an AI strategy. They need someone to look at the inbox and the paperwork and say: automate these two, leave that one alone, here is what it costs.
Intro call
Twenty minutes on where AI could actually save you time, and where it would not. No charge, no pitch.
AI advice session
A focused hour on your business: the three or four jobs worth automating first, what each would cost, and what to leave alone. You get a short written plan.
Half-day AI audit
A walk through your actual workflows, inbox, paperwork and tools, ending with a prioritised roadmap and honest numbers on the hours each item would save.
From a conversation to something running.
- 01
We talk
A free intro call, then an advice session or half-day audit. You describe the work; the audit finds where the hours go.
- 02
A written plan
The two or three things worth automating first, what each would save, and a fixed price for each.
- 03
Built and tested on your real work
Trained and tuned on your actual enquiries, documents and data, with you checking the output before anything goes live.
- 04
Live, monitored, supported
It runs on infrastructure the studio looks after, with a monthly check that it is still saving what it promised.
No hype. Measured against the hours it saves.
- Measured against hours saved and enquiries won, not novelty. If it does not pay for itself, you will be told before you spend anything.
- A plain script where a script will do. AI is used only where judgement, language or messy input is involved.
- A person stays in the loop. Drafts are checked before they go out; extracted data is verified before it is trusted.
- Your data stays yours. UK GDPR by design: no customer data used to train anything, and processing agreements in place with any AI provider.
- Built into the tools you already use, on infrastructure the studio supports, so it keeps working after launch.
- Fixed quote, agreed before work starts, with a written summary of what it does and what it does not do.
An AI feature is only useful if it is wired into real software, hosted properly, and still working in six months.
Jones Digital has been building and hosting web software for small businesses for 13+ years, and runs on the same tools it recommends: the studio's own mock-up and audit tooling is LLM-assisted. That is the difference between a demo and an implementation. The wider consulting and build work, from tech stacks to web apps and dashboards, sits behind every AI project, and if what you actually need is a fast website or to show up in AI search results, you will be told so.
AI, answered plainly.
What does an AI consultant actually do for a small business?
Works out which of your everyday jobs are worth handing to AI, which are not, and then builds the ones that are. For most small businesses that is enquiry handling, paperwork, and answering the same questions repeatedly, not anything exotic. The value is in choosing the right three problems and implementing them properly, with a person still checking the output.
How much does AI implementation cost?
Advice starts at £125 for an hour, or £400 for a half-day audit with a written roadmap. Smaller AI automations sit in the same bracket as any other automation, from £750. Larger implementations, assistants trained on your documents or features built into your software, are scoped and fixed-quoted after a call. Nothing is billed by the hour without agreeing it first.
Do I need to be technical, or have a big team?
No. Most clients are owner-operators or small teams with a laptop, an inbox and a lot of repetition. If you can describe the job you are sick of doing, that is enough to start. Jones Digital handles the models, the hosting and the plumbing.
Is my customer data safe with AI tools?
It can be, if it is set up properly. Jones Digital uses providers with UK GDPR-compliant terms that do not train on your data, keep sensitive fields out of prompts where possible, and put a data processing agreement in place. Where the data is especially sensitive, a private model on your own infrastructure is an option. This is covered in the advice session before anything is built.
Which AI tools do you use?
Whichever suits the job. That is usually one of the major model providers through their API, combined with ordinary software: a database, a scheduler, your email or CRM. The studio is not tied to any vendor and will recommend a plain script or an off-the-shelf tool where one does the job for less.
How long does it take?
An advice session can be booked within the week. A first automation, such as enquiry triage with draft replies, is typically live within two to three weeks of the quote being agreed. Larger builds are scoped with a timeline up front.
What happens if Connor is unavailable mid-project or after launch?
Everything built is documented, version-controlled and hosted with monitoring and daily backups, so an automation keeps running whether or not anyone is at a desk. Planned absences are told to clients ahead of time with cover for anything urgent, and you own the code and the accounts, so you are never locked in to one person.
Do you cover businesses outside Croydon and London?
Yes. AI and automation work is done remotely for businesses across the UK. Croydon and south London clients can have the advice session in person if they prefer.
Tell the studio what eats your week.
The job you are sick of doing is usually the right place to start. Describe it in a sentence and you will get a straight answer on whether AI is the right tool, and what it would cost.
