Why people leave WordPress.
Rarely one dramatic failure. Usually several of these at once, for a couple of years, until someone finally asks whether it has to be like this.
- It has got slow. Every plugin adds queries, scripts and stylesheets. A site that was quick in year one is carrying years of accumulated weight by year five, and mobile visitors feel all of it.
- Updates are frightening. The core, the theme and twenty plugins all update on their own schedules. Skip them and you are exposed; run them and something occasionally breaks. Neither is a good position for a business owner.

Will moving off WordPress hurt my Google rankings?
Not if the migration is done properly, and the steps that protect rankings are the whole point of doing it carefully. Every existing URL is mapped to its new home with a permanent redirect, the page titles and descriptions come across, the structured data is rebuilt, and a fresh sitemap is submitted on the day of the switch. Rankings usually hold, and often improve within a few weeks because the site got faster. What damages rankings is a rebuild that quietly changes every URL and leaves the old ones returning 404.
What replaces the WordPress admin? How do I edit the site?
Two options, and which suits you is a five-minute conversation. A site built on an abandoned premium theme, with plugins nobody holds licences for, often costs more to rescue than to rebuild, and leaves you with the same problem in two years. The answer comes from looking at it, and looking is free.
Do I keep everything if I move?
