Web design in Croydon

Web design in Croydon, built by the person doing the work.

A local, independent studio. Fast, fixed-price websites for Croydon businesses, with someone you can actually sit down with.

Updated 27 September 2026 · by Connor Jones, Croydon

The short answer
  • Jones Digital builds fixed-price websites for Croydon businesses from £199, out of an independent studio in Croydon (South London is a short drive).
  • Covers Croydon town centre, East Croydon, West Croydon, South Croydon and the surrounding streets, with in-person meetings available.
  • A page is written for each trade served here, roofers, builders, members' clubs among them, so the site matches what customers actually search for.
  • A Starter site is live in five days; you own the site and the domain outright, with care plans from £29 a month if you want it looked after.
Local, and it shows

Jones Digital is based in Croydon. I build websites for local businesses right across the borough, from the office district in the town centre to the independent shops around South End and the villages out towards Sanderstead and Selsdon.

Being local matters more than people expect. I know the area your customers are searching from, I can meet you over a coffee instead of a video call, and I am a short drive away when something needs sorting. No agency, no account manager, no call centre, just the person who builds and looks after your site.

Croydon has the largest concentration of office space outside central London, and a high street and shopping centres that pull people in from all over the south. But most of the businesses I build for are smaller: the trades, clinics, salons and clubs that a neighbourhood actually runs on. Those are the ones a good local website helps most.

The clearest example is South Croydon Conservative Club, on Selsdon Road. A century-old members' club stuck on a slow, unmaintainable site, rebuilt by hand into something fast the committee can keep current.

On the ground

What is actually happening in CR0.

Croydon town centre has a Business Improvement District with a levy, a boundary and a ballot, and plenty of the businesses I build for sit outside all three.

The BID levy stops at £40,000 of rateable value

Croydon BID charges a levy of 1% of the relevant rateable value of each hereditament in its area valued at £40,000 or more, and exempts every premises below that figure. It puts its levy-paying membership at 470 businesses, inside a boundary running from West Croydon station in the north, taking in Cherry Orchard Road and Number 1 Croydon in the east, Park Lane and Coombe Road in the south, and Charles Street and Church Street to the west.

So if your rateable value is under £40,000, or your address is in Addiscombe, Shirley, Selsdon or Thornton Heath rather than the centre, none of that collective town-centre marketing is working on your behalf. Your own site is. The current term runs from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2027, and the renewal ballot for a 2027 to 2032 term runs from 21 September to 21 October 2026, which is worth knowing if you do pay the levy.

What 168 Croydon homepages looked like when I checked them

Between 11 July and 16 August 2026 I audited small business websites across 32 towns in and around the borough. 168 of those businesses gave a Croydon address and still had a homepage that loaded. Of those 168: 32.1% carried no structured data at all, 25.0% had no meta description, 11.3% were built on a cheap page builder, 11.3% had a footer year three or more years old, and 7.7% were still not served over HTTPS. The method and the borough-wide figures are in the study.

Croydon is not the worst town in that sample on any of those measures. It is simply average, which is the point: being average in a town of this size means a few hundred competitors have the same gaps you do, and closing them is unusually cheap.

What I would fix first on a Croydon site

  • LocalBusiness structured data naming the trading address, the opening hours and the phone number, so a search engine has something to read rather than something to guess.
  • A meta description written for the search you want, instead of a blank tag that leaves Google to cut a sentence out of your homepage.
  • HTTPS on every page, because the browser warns your visitor before they read a word of your copy.
  • A phone number that dials on one tap and stays on screen as the page scrolls.

Questions

Working with a local studio.

Do you meet clients in person?

Yes, gladly. Being in Croydon means I can meet you at the club, the shop, or a coffee nearby rather than only over a screen. A lot of the trades and small businesses I work with prefer sorting things out face to face, and I am happy to.

How much does a website cost in Croydon?

The same fixed prices wherever you are: Starter £199, Standard £499, Pro £999, or Custom from £1,999. You can also spread it with Pay Monthly from £59 a month. The price is agreed before I start, and you own the site and domain outright. If you want to update the site yourself, a self-manage admin area can be added to any tier from £500.

Which areas around Croydon do you cover?

All of it: South Croydon, Purley, Selsdon, Sanderstead, Coulsdon, Addiscombe, Shirley, Thornton Heath, Norbury, New Addington and the rest. If you are just outside the borough, Bromley or Sutton way, that is no problem either, just ask.

Can you help a Croydon business show up on Google?

That is a lot of the point. Every site is built for local search from day one, and on the Growth plan I set up and post to your Google Business Profile, add a new page each month, and send a plain report on the calls and enquiries coming in. When someone in the area searches for what you do, you want to be one of the names that appears.

Are you actually local, or is this a national company with a Croydon page?

Actually local. Jones Digital is an independent studio led by Connor Jones, based in Croydon, building and looking after the sites himself. No franchise, no reseller, no pool of subcontractors.
