Ashveil RPG
A self-hosted fantasy role-playing game with a persistent world and real character progression, engineered and hosted end to end.
Ashveil is a fantasy role-playing game that runs in the browser, with a world that keeps going whether you are logged in or not, and characters that grow over time. That is a very different job from a website.
A persistent world means game state that has to be stored, updated and served reliably around the clock. Character progression means rules, data and player accounts that all have to hold together. It needed to be built as a proper application and hosted somewhere it would stay up.
A world that stays online.
- A persistent game world that ticks along in the background, not just while someone is watching it.
- Character progression: accounts, characters, and the systems that let them advance and persist.
- The full stack engineered front to back, from the game logic to the interface players actually use.
- Self-hosted infrastructure set up and tuned, so the world stays online and responsive.
- Kept fast on a phone as well as a desktop, so players are not waiting around.
Measured, not claimed.
Google Lighthouse scores for the live site, mobile, out of 100. Captured July 2026.
Measured with Google Lighthouse against the live site on an emulated mobile connection. For an interactive, self-hosted game, an 87 performance score alongside full marks for best practices and search readiness is a genuinely strong result.
Ashveil is hosted and looked after by Jones Digital, with monitoring and daily backups, so a persistent world stays persistent.
