What is a Responsive Website and why you need one?

But what is Responsive?

Ever clicked on a webpage and the banner has taken over your whole screen?

Ever wondered why Amazons website on your phone browser feels like it takes until Christmas to load?

Read below to find out why!

Its 2020 get with the times already!

Mobile accounts for approximately half of web traffic world-wide. In the first quarter of 2019, mobile devices (excluding tablets) generated 48.71% of global website traffic and has been hovering around the 50% mark since 2017. Ignoring the facts and figures, take your own personal use into account, what do you use more on a day to day basis to google people/places…. Yeh exactly, now that you’ve realised that its insane for YOUR company website to not be mobile accessible.

Resize and Transform.

A responsive website means the designer is able to tailor the webpage to be able to resize and transform itself depending on what device its being viewed through. Responsive web design has become an essential tool for any web designer to have under their belt. This is because everyone is now using a different sort of device and smaller screen every day to view webpages. By making your website responsive your mobile or tablet will automatically adjust. This means the layout will change depending on the screen. This is mainly for users as it’s make the webpage more understandable and easy to find information they may need.

So why do you need a responsive website?

If amazon dont and facebook dont. You're wondering why your business needs a resposive website. Unless you have an app and by not having a mobile friendly website you are getting more app downloads then it really is a must! A responsive website gives you the chance to have one site, with many different elements that suit the device they’re being viewed on.  Not to mention will load up much faster.

The stats of responsive websites.

Take any website, when you view it in the classic desktop view, the website may show 3 columns. But when you have that same layout on a smaller screen it may force you to change the orientation of the devices or just completely blows up to the point you don’t even know which page of the website you’re looking at. Let alone if you have heavy graphics it will take an age to load. If your website isn’t responsive, you’re driving away your clients before you’ve even managed to get your foot in the door.
